Pimp my Bike

Hi, I am The Alien, and I’m a Gadget-holic (First step is admitting it right?). I LOVE having all kinds of gadget for training, to know the numbers for everything and have my performance as documented as possible. I love being able to go back and see how I have improved with training, to see how fast I’ve gotten, how many calories I’ve burned, how long I’ve trained, how long I’m able to stay at high HR zones, how my weight has gone down as well as my body fat%. This allows me to compete with myself, every week trying to train more hours, burn more calories, run longer distances, train harder overall… this is a great way to keep myself motivated!



Last week I got myself an Enduro 8 for the spaceship. It’s a simple cyclocomputer with a few usefull functions. The main function I wanted it for was to keep track of the distances I was riding. Which it’s something really important to keep track of my bike training’s.

I had scheduled a bike ride for today, and it was my first time out on the spaceship since I installed the Enduro 8, so I was really excited about testing my newest gadget. I got ready for my ride, strapped the polar chest band, put my polar watch on my left wrist, then strapped the nano to my right wrist and put the Enduro 8 on the spaceship (That’s 3 screens that I’m checking while riding the bike!!!).

The ride was really fun, I had originally planned to do an easy 16k ride with some hills on it, since I’m just starting my new training schedule. I went to an area of the city that I didn’t know, I just knew there were some hills… So I went there and started going uphill, having a lot of fun and not feeling tired at all. ‘Some hills’ ended up being a big mountain, that I felt I needed to conquer today, and so I did. I started to climb uphill without stopping I finished all the water I had taken with me and it was getting dark when I got to the top, but the view from there made all the effort worth it!! In the end, an easy 16k ride ended up being a 25k ride with a big mountain included, and a great way to start my bike training!

  2. Yes, Alien, the first step is admitting it – you are well on your way! Congratulations on making it up those hills on your bike – that is wonderful. I love your “spaceship!” šŸ™‚ Your blog is great.

  3. Wow. Heck of a ride, Alien. Now you need to strap a computer screen to your handlebars that can receive the data from your 3 devices! Ok, maybe that is a bit over the top. Good job on the ride.

  4. I, too, am obsessed with gadgets, though I don’t think I have ever gone so far as to equip myself with three different devices with screens! That’s hilarious! Make sure you keep your eyes on the road every now and then too :p

  5. Craziness with the 3 screens! I will say that I’m probably quite the opposite as I if I could have it my way, I’d run with just my keys to get back in.
